For a car which was in production until as recently as 2000, they
are rare on the roads these days, but their design did last and
went on for decade after decade. The car’s simplicity of shape,
fittings, instruments and driving is its tour de force and for 42
years it scarcely changed, except beneath the bonnet. With its
small, slightly smiley radiator grills, it has achieved a
‘classic’ status and is as popular as ever today in its vintage
form. Up and down the country thousands of enthusiasts parade
their immaculate little cars at rallies and owners’ club shows.
